Calling all book readers to come in at any point during the day to sign up to become a book pen pal. We will be collecting names starting September 9th. This program offers fun and bonding for babies (0-24 months) and their grown-ups! Join us for bouncing, reading, and singing during this half hour program in the library children’s program room. Parents and caregivers will practice ways to interact with babies to support talking and pre-reading skills. Each week, we’ll share songs and rhymes to develop language skills and sense of rhythm. Parents and caregivers with children ages 2 1/5 – 5 years old are invited to share books, rhymes and an activity each week! We will meet in the library children’s program room. Early literacy information will be available to take home. These tips will help adults share books and daily activities with children in ways that help them prepare for school.

Join us at the Farmville library to meet local author, Craig Challender, of Farmville, VA! He will be discussing his books Masters of War, Dancing on Water, and Capable Ways. Craig will do a reading followed by a discussion with the audience. The Local Author Talk series is a library partnership with the Friends of the Barbara Rose Johns Farmville-Prince Edward Community Library.
